Strengthening Climate Resilience of at-risk Coastal Communities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) as a Result of Improved Resource Management and Climate-Smart Livelihoods

Bina Karta Lestari Foundation (BINTARI) in Semarang, Central Java supported by the Arbeiter Samariter Bund (ASB) and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economy Cooperation and Development, the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ) requires 1 (one) Project Coordinator with the home base of Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai District, East Nusa Tenggara Province.


This position will work in coordination with the Project Manager to support the implementation of the Project “ Strengthening Climate Resilience of at-risk Coastal Communities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) as a Result of Improved Resource Management and Climate-Smart Livelihoods “, with main responsibility shall include, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Under the Project Manager, ensure overall project coordination including daily-based management and team schedules, progress tracking and reporting, event coordination and project documentation
  • Develop strong project management and coordination strategy in the context of a team implemented project and its execution.
  • Maintain project planning, monitoring and reporting tools and make sure indicator tracking is up to date.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders including ASB to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives.
  • Facilitate internal meetings for project monitoring and reporting.
  • Facilitate communication with the project partner, especially with regards to project planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Ensure consistency of knowledge product formats and proper documentation in related filing system
  • Prepare, organize, and facilitate events through contracting, event organizer liaison, preparation and collection of events materials.



Project coordination and management

  1. Coordinate annual operational planning and tracking of progress, developing a system to work with the team to allow good management of progress
  2. Support activity level planning, implementation, and control
  3. Be responsible for project reporting
  4. Evaluate the alignment of activities carried out by project with the project’s indicators
  5. Develop and update the relevant templates for project planning, monitoring, and budgeting.
  6. Maintain documentation of project results by reviewing other documents concerning the progress of collaborative programs
  7. Support contract and tender preparation, in close tandem with administrative and finance officer, and manage large framework contracts through close monitoring, documenting and consultant follow-up


Information collection and knowledge management

  1. Compile the relevant information needed for activities and assignments, such as for reports, studies and knowledge tools.
  2. Maintain the relevant information into clear structure of sharing folder and filing system.
  3. Ensure format consistency in knowledge products and coordinate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) officer for the development of publicly accessible products.
  4. Assist Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Officer in utilizing data and information in the context of activity implementation and policy recommendations to project’s counterparts.


Stakeholder outreach and engagement

  1. Work closely with the relevant partners
  2. Coordinate and support team members to collect and provide inputs from the relevant stakeholders
  3. Facilitate exchange and support team in identifying potential cooperation with partners, other projects, and government partners on the utilization of data and information of related activities.
  4. Manage the meeting agenda with relevant stakeholders, write the Minute of meetings, and contribute to the follow up.


Other duties/additional tasks

  1. Perform other duties and tasks at the request of the Project Manager
  2. Contribute actively to a good working climate and teamwork within the project
  3. Share proactively information about the project with other relevant projects (within and outside of BINTARI) and seek synergies across activities
  4. Collaborating effectively with the communication team on developing project communication template, logos, and tools


Job Requirements


University / Master’s Degree in a relevant field (social studies, management/economics, environment, administration, development studies, and or any area that is related to the project objectives).


Professional experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in program implementation with a focus on climate change mitigation / conservation / sustainable development goals / disability, and social inclusion; and demonstrated experience in project management (design, implementation, budget management, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting)
  • Prior experience in the eco-tourism, environmental conservation, inclusiveness issues, and climate change adaptation in Indonesia is an advantage.


Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Good working knowledge about eco-tourism, environmental conservation, inclusiveness issues, and climate change adaptation
  • Very good knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • Excellent written and oral knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia and English
  • Willingness to improve skill as required by the tasks to be performed –corresponding measures are agreed with management.
  • Focused and proactive working attitude.
  • Strong organisational competence with good communication and coordination skills able to forget relations easily with a variety of stakeholders to motivate others, gain support for initiatives, and work towards achieving common objectives.
  • Availability to follow the code of conduct of the organization.


Duty Station: Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat
