The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team to identify and assess potential project sites, engage key stakeholders, and develop a Concept Note for submission to international conservation and climate funding mechanisms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This assignment offers an opportunity to contribute to the design of an integrated, community-based blue carbon project that combines mangrove conservation and restoration with sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. The consultant will play a key role in spatial analysis, field assessments, stakeholder engagement, and the preparation of a technically robust and donor-ready project concept.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A.\u00a0 SCOPE OF WORK<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Expert will work with a team to support the identification, assessment, and design of a mangrove conservation and restoration project and prepare a Concept Note for potential funding.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Key tasks include:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Desk Review and Site Screening<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Review project requirements and relevant secondary data.<\/li>\n<li>Identify and shortlist potential project landscapes that meet the minimum area and eligibility requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Review existing information on mangroves, degraded\/abandoned aquaculture ponds, coastal dynamics, biodiversity, livelihoods, land tenure, and conservation status.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Spatial Mapping<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct GIS and remote-sensing analysis to map existing mangroves, potential restoration areas, abandoned\/degraded ponds, land use, and other relevant features.<\/li>\n<li>Delineate the proposed project landscape and estimate conservation and restoration areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Field Survey and Validation<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct field surveys and ground-truthing of shortlisted sites.<\/li>\n<li>Validate mangrove condition, restoration potential, hydrological conditions, land use, and key threats.<\/li>\n<li>Document findings through GPS points, photographs, maps, and field observations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stakeholder Consultation<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Consult relevant government agencies, village governments, communities, fishers, aquaculture farmers, and other stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Assess community interest, livelihoods, management arrangements, land tenure issues, and opportunities for community-based conservation and restoration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Preliminary Project Feasibility<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Assess the potential for mangrove conservation and restoration, OECM or other area-based conservation approaches, sustainable livelihoods, and blue carbon development.<\/li>\n<li>Identify key opportunities, constraints, risks, and data gaps.<\/li>\n<li>Recommend the preferred project area and intervention strategy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Concept Note Preparation<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the development of the project rationale, Theory of Change, proposed interventions, expected results, beneficiaries, and sustainability strategy.<\/li>\n<li>Support the preparation of Concept Note draft and supporting maps and technical information.<\/li>\n<li>Revise and finalise the Concept Note based on feedback from the project team and partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>B.\u00a0 KEY DELIVERABLES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Site screening and assessment methodology.<\/li>\n<li>GIS maps and shortlist of potential project areas.<\/li>\n<li>Field survey and stakeholder consultation findings.<\/li>\n<li>Recommended project landscape with indicative conservation and restoration areas.<\/li>\n<li>Preliminary project design and Theory of Change.<\/li>\n<li>Draft Concept Note.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>C.\u00a0 QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Master&#8217;s degree in Marine\/Coastal Management, Forestry, Geography, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum <strong>5 years of relevant professional experience<\/strong> in mangrove management, coastal ecosystems, ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, or related fields.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience in <strong>mangrove assessment, conservation, and\/or restoration<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in <strong>GIS, remote sensing, field surveys, and spatial mapping<\/strong> of coastal ecosystems.<\/li>\n<li>Good understanding of <strong>blue carbon, climate change, OECM\/area-based conservation, and community-based natural resource management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with coastal communities, fishers, aquaculture farmers, and government institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in <strong>project design and proposal development for international donors or climate\/conservation funds is a plus<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical and report-writing skills in English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>D.\u00a0 CONTRACT PERIOD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">BINTARI will hire for the period of three months (approximately from August \u2013 Oct 2026) with potential extension upon performance.
