Semarang (12\/02). The management of the Senden Berseri Waste Management Institution (LPS), together with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia, the Semarang Regency DPRD, and the Semarang Regency Environmental Agency (DLH), inaugurated the Senden Berseri Processing House and Maggot Facility. The inauguration of the maggot house was attended by 56 invitees consisting of LPS Senden, TP-PKK, the Jatijajar Village Government, the Semarang Regency DLH, the Semarang Regency DPRD, the surrounding community, and private sector representatives. The maggot house, located in Senden Hamlet, Jatijajar Village, was built with the aim of helping manage organic kitchen waste generated by households in Senden Hamlet.<\/p>\n

The event was opened by Naelu Farhatin as the Head of Senden Hamlet. In her remarks, she conveyed the journey of waste management in the hamlet over the past year, before and after being assisted by Bintari.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis waste sorting program is far from perfect; we are still learning. With the establishment of this maggot house, we hope we can improve and become better. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Senden Berseri waste management educators\/cadres team. Without the role of all of you, this program would not be possible. May God reward all of your dedication,\u201d said Naelu.<\/p>\n

After the event was opened, the activity continued with a discussion session led by the Semarang Regency Environmental Agency (DLH). DLH expressed its concern regarding current waste reduction efforts in Semarang Regency. Despite the many facilities that have been provided, the volume of waste entering the Blondo landfill has continued to increase. The establishment of this maggot house brings good news, with the hope that household waste management can be carried out optimally through behavioral changes among the community in Senden Hamlet.<\/p>\n

In response, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia, represented by Sheila Syafira Maharani, expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the program, including the village government, the community, and Bintari, who have worked together to build awareness of the importance of waste management. \u201cWe can only provide support, assisted by Bintari in realizing a waste-free Senden Hamlet,\u201d said Ms. Sheila.<\/p>\n

In continuation, Bintari, represented by Amalia Wulansari, explained the condition of Senden Hamlet in the past, when there was no waste management system, compared to the current situation. Raising awareness about the importance of waste management must begin early, so that the waste problem does not become a time bomb. \u201cThe system that has been built in Senden Hamlet has become the driving force behind the success of the program in Senden. There is the role of the women in the Educator Team, Mbah Ndoni and Mr. Nur Cholis who collect sorted waste from households, Mr. Soni who manages the maggot house, as well as the community members who have changed their behavior in sorting waste.\u201d<\/p>\n

Syaikhul Hadi, a representative of the Semarang Regency DPRD, also expressed his hopes during the event. With the establishment of the maggot house in Senden, it is expected to serve as an example and spread positive practices to the surrounding areas, as a solution for sustainable waste management.<\/p>\n

The activity continued with the cutting of the tumpeng, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a visit to the organic waste management facilities at the Senden Berseri Processing House and Maggot Facility. The inauguration of this maggot house is expected not only to contribute as a facility for managing organic waste but also to serve as an educational platform for the surrounding community to begin sorting organic waste, particularly processed kitchen waste (SOD).
